Percentage Gradebook:
Points Gradebook
You still need to know the point value for each assignment.
⮞ Setting Up the Gradebook
Turn editing on.
Click Grades on the top bar of the course
Select Gradebook Setup from the drop-down menu in the top-left corner.

Create categories (e.g., Quizzes, Assignments).
Click Add category at the bottom.
Enter a name (e.g., Quizzes).
Set Aggregation to Natural.
Keep Maximum at 100.

Optional settings:
Exclude empty grades: Prevents low averages early in the semester. Uncheck at the end so grades reflect missing work.
Drop the lowest: Automatically removes a set number of the lowest grades in a category.
Click Save changes.
Repeat for all categories.
Match Grade Scales:
Notes:
Assignments with point values added on the homepage automatically go to the gradebook.
Items added before category setup appear outside categories—move them manually.
You can assign an activity to a category during creation to save time.
⮞ Setting Up a Percentage-Based Gradebook
Notes:
Items inside a category affect that category’s grade based on their points.
Category weights must total 100%.
Items within a category must also total 100%.
Example (Exams Category):
Exam 1: Weight 25, Points 50
Exam 2: Weight 25, Points 50
Exam 3: Weight 50, Points 100

NOTE: Percentages shown are just indicators of their impact on the final grade.
⮞ Moving Items in the Gradebook
Click the arrow to the left of the item.
Click the dashed box in the desired category.
The page will refresh with the item moved.
⮞ Course Grade Settings
Aggregation position: Choose to place the final grade at the top.

Grade display type: Choose up to two from:
Real (points)
Letter
Percentage
Overall decimal places: Set how many decimal places to show.
You can ignore the rest of the settings.

The very top section has the same name as the class
Please do not edit the name. It must remain as the class name, as changing it can cause issues when uploading grades.
