What are the different types of activities?
Information:
Activities are different types of assignments that you can set up for your students to do.
360 Feedback - allows students to give each other feedback on a
Assignment - also known as dropbox - allows the students to submit assignments electronically.
Attendance- The attendance activity module enables a teacher to take attendance during class and students to view their attendance record.
Chat- The chat activity module lets participants have text-based, real-time synchronous discussions.
Checklist - set up a to-do list for the students
Choice - allows to set up for the students to make selections
Custom Certificate- This module allows for the dynamic generation of PDF certificates.
Database- The database enables participants to create, maintain, and search a collection of entries.

External Tool - used for third-party integrations
Feedback- enables a teacher to create a custom survey for collecting feedback from participants using a variety of question types, including multiple-choice, yes/no, or text input.
Forums/Open Forums - allows for asynchronous discussions
Glossary - allows the students to create collaborative definitions
H5P- allows for the creation of interactive content
Hot Question - Allows the students to post and vote on a post in response to questions asked by the teacher
Journal - allows students to write on topics like a journal

Questionnaire - allows creating surveys for the students
Quiz - allows for online quizzing and testing with set dates and times
Read Aloud - allows students to read passages and get graded for their reading
Reengagement- activity provides a way for you to send timely notifications to students and 3rd parties, which can include reminders to return to the course and complete activities.
Scheduler - allows for setting up appointments with the students
Simple Certificate - allows a certificate to be created for completion of the course
Subcourse - allows for items to be taken in other courses and applied in one course
Survey - prepopulated surveys that can be used for course feedback
Turnitin Assignment 2 - directly linked into Turnitin - use only when you want to submit papers for the students. Otherwise, you use the Turnitin embedded function in the assignment/dropbox tool
Wiki - allows the student to add and edit a collection of web pages
Workshop-The workshop activity module enables the collection, review, and peer assessment of students' work.
How do I create an assignment/dropbox?

How to:
Turn editing on 
Click on Add an activity or resource 
Select Activities tab
Select Assignment
Put in the Assignment name
If you want a description to show on the front page of the course, put in a description, then put a checkmark in the box next to the Display description on the course page.

If you need have an extra document to help with the assignment like the requirements and the rubric, you can:
Select the Allow submission from; select the time as well
Put in the due date; select the time as well
A cut date would be used, if you were allowing the students to submit late assignments
Only keep the Remind me to grade by if you want email reminders to do the grading

Select the types of submissions the student will be doing
File submission
Mahara portfolio
Online text
Choose the number of files that they will be uploading
Only choose Accepted files types if you want to limit the types of files that are to be submitted
To enable Turnitin - see Turnitin set up below

Choose the type of Feedback files - the type of files you will be submitting back to the students

Submission Settings
Require students to click the submit button - there will be a second time to click submit. This will be needed if you want the students to be able to have a draft version
Require that students accept the submission statement - makes the student click a statement that this is their own paper
Attempts reopened
Group settings - only if the students are to submit as a group

Notifications
Notify graders about submissions - you would get emails every time someone submitted an assignment
Notify graders about late submissions - you would get an email every time a student submits late assignments.
Default settings for “notify students” - send the students an email when they submit an assignment

Grade
Choose if the assignment will be worth any points
Choose the number of points for the assignment
Grading method - change this to rubric if you want an embedded rubric
Grade category - puts the grade item into the correct category in the grade book. We will only have options if the grade book is set up in advance.
Restrict access - set up actions that will only allow certain students to access the assignment/dropbox
Activity completion - allows students to mark off if the assignment has been done or it can happen automatically.
Click Save and display if you are using an embedded rubric for grading
Click Save and return to the course if you do not need to create a rubric

How to set up the assignment- First Part:
Go into LearningHub
Put your cursor on Hub Tools 
Right-click on Panopto
Click the open link in a new tab 
Click on Browse - left side


If you are only doing one video assignment, use the following instructions; if not, go to the instructions for multiple video assignments
Click on Settings under the three-dot menu
Click Create Assignment Folder 

An Assignment folder will be created 
Close this pop-up box by clicking on the X in the upper right side
Copy the link shown above Who has access

How to set up the assignment- Second Part:
Return to LearningHub
Turn Editing on
Go to the area where you want the assignment
Click on Add an activity or resource
Click on Activities
Click on Assignment
Put in the Assignment name
In the description box put in the assignment information:

Unselect all submission types. This is to make sure that the students do not try to upload the video directly into LearningHub.
Complete the assignment set up as you would for a normal assignment shown above.
How do I allow students to view each other’s videos
Information: Have the video assignment folder set up in Panopto

How to:
In the assignment folder in Panopto
Click on the Gear icon
Click on Settings 
Click on Allow viewers to see each other’s sessions
Click on the X to close the screen
How do I create a Google assignment
How to:
Turn editing on
Click on Add an activity or resource
Click on the Activity tab
Click on External Tool
Click on “Automatic, based on tool URL” under Preconfigured tool
Select Google Assignments
Select Content - make sure you are in your Andrews Google account

Turn Check plagiarism on to have it checked for originality
Click on Attach to locate the file that the students are to be working with
Put in the correct points
Select the Due date
Put in a Rubric if you have one for the assignment
